Look at some of the wonderful home learning taking place, earning children a place in the virtual Gold Book. The effort you are all putting in is fantastic!
The government and the BBC have created 2 fantastic resources for home learning. Each of the following links is split into year groups and has a lesson followed by age appropriate activities, quizzes and games. Both BBC bitesize and Oak National Academy are fabulous, easy to follow learning tools and will help the children maintain good learning habits making the eventual transition back to school easier.

This is the final newsletter of the year and
what a strange end to the year it has been!
May I start by saying a huge thank you for your ongoing support throughout lockdown. You have worked so hard to help us to continue the education of your children, supporting the online lessons via Seesaw or by providing other life learning opportunities such as cooking, growing, making, creating, walking, photography, singing, dancing ….the list goes on.
It feels like such a long time since we have been altogether and whilst we often hear in the news about the gaps in learning lockdown will present and the need for catch up programmes for ’a lost generation’, yesterday I worked out that we have actually only missed 64 school days, which equates to 4% of the children's overall time in education.
When we return to school in September we will continue to work with you to best support your children and narrow those gaps as quickly as possible. We will continue to always strive to support your child to achieve their full potential.
I hope you have all had a chance to see the class videos which have been uploaded to the class pages on the website. The first is a look back on the time we had in school and even though the year was cut short, it was fantastic to remember all the great things the children had done from September to March. There has still been much to celebrate.
The other video has been posted from your child’s new class teacher to help with transition for when they return in September.
The final part of our transition was a leaflet, written by their new teacher which introduces themselves and gives an idea of the topics they will be learning about next year.
Please take the time to view these again during the holiday to help familiarise your child with their new teachers and their learning as well as seeing their new classroom environment.
Yesterday we held our Year 6 Leavers Assembly. It was so lovely to have them all back together as a class in the hall to celebrate their time at Ferney Lee. The comments and feedback we have had from our families and children has been wonderful—thank you!
A big well done to Mr Crawshaw, Mrs Carty and Mrs Shackleton for making their last day so special.
Finally, I want to say a final farewell to Mrs Nisah, who leaves us today to begin her training to become a qualified teacher. She has worked tremendously hard to provide the very best support to many children over the years. She has dedicated the latter part of her time here to helping our younger children have the best start to their education, in the Early Years.
I know I speak on behalf of everyone when I say THANK YOU and Good Luck - we know you will make a fantastic teacher! I hope that we will be able to invite her back into school as soon as it is safe, to give her the proper send off she deserves.
I also want to say thank you to all the staff who have shown incredible resilience and optimism and have worked incredibly hard in what has probably been the most challenging time in our careers. The team spirit has shone through and I look forward to the next part of the journey together.
We are really looking forward to seeing all our children back together again in September.
I wish you all a very happy, healthy and safe summer holiday.
