Home/School Communication Protocol
At Ferney Lee, we value home/school communication to enable us to best support the children in our care and there are many different reasons for communicating with members of our school community.
This document explores the various ways we communicate and draws attention to the processes and etiquette expected when communicating between home and school.
The easiest form of communication is face-to-face – we have an open-door policy which means teachers and support staff are available every day on classroom doors and office and pastoral staff, including the headteacher are available during the day.
It is expected that concerns about your child will be raised with the class teacher in the first instance, as this way, matters are likely to be resolved quickly. If your issue is confidential, then we ask you to email the office manager (admin@ferneylee’calderdale.sch.uk) and your message will be forwarded to the relevant member of staff.
Alternatively, you can contact the office so that a mutually convenient meeting time can be arranged. Please note, a level of detail will be required from you so that the information can be directed to the right member of staff who will be aware of the concern.
We will endeavour to deal with concerns quickly, and it can be expected that you will receive a reply within 3 working days. However, some concerns may need more time to be investigated and as such this may take longer.
There are times when alternative methods of communication are used and the following table details these:
