At Ferney Lee we aim to provide a healthy and nutritionally balanced school meal for any child who wishes to have a school dinner. Our meals are cooked by and provided to us by Todmorden High School. Roast dinner Wednesday is very popular!
School Lunches are currently available at a cost of £2.70 per day/£13.50 per week. We ask that parents and carers inform the school office each half term as to their child's lunch pattern, e.g., school meal or packed lunch. If your child wishes to alter their lunch pattern, then please let us know during the half term prior to them changing.

Free School Meals
Important changes from September 2026
From September 2026, more families will qualify for Free School Meals as the Government expands eligibility.
We encourage all parents and carers to check whether their child may be eligible. This includes families who may not have qualified before.
Free School Meals are not just for children who have school dinners. Even if your child usually brings a packed lunch, it is still important to apply if you are eligible. Registering for Free School Meals may also help the school access additional funding to provide extra support and opportunities for pupils, including:
- School trips
- Additional academic support
- Wellbeing support
Who is eligible for Free School Meals?
From September 2026, children and young people may be eligible for Free School Meals if they:
- attend a Calderdale school or sixth form
- attend school full time
- are of statutory school age
and their parent or carer receives one of the followin
How do I apply?
Applications for Free School Meals should be made directly through the Calderdale Council using their website https://new.calderdale.gov.uk/dio/apply-free-school-meals
Please note: Free School Meal applications are not automatically renewed and do not carry forward from one academic year to the next. Parents and carers must submit an application through their local authority council each year. An annual eligibility review is a legal requirement to ensure continued entitlement to Free School Meals.

If you think you are entitled to free school meals, please contact the school. If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 then they will be eligible for a Universal Free School Meal. However, if you are entitled to free meals then please still apply - the school will receive extra funding for your child, even if you do not currently pay for their meal.
